iBG iLog Strain Gauge/Bridge Data Logger
The iBG iLOG is a compact, battery-powered strain gauge and bridge data logger designed for measuring low-level bridge signals in industrial, laboratory, research, testing, and sensor-monitoring applications.
It supports full-bridge strain gauge, load cell, pressure sensor, and other bridge-type transducer measurements. The logger provides excitation voltage, excitation-sense compensation, and a dedicated bridge input channel to help improve measurement accuracy in demanding applications.
Three models are available to support different input ranges:
- iBG-8: ±8 mV
- iBG-16: ±16 mV
- iBG-32: ±32 mV
Measurement data is stored in 8 MB of non-volatile flash memory for later retrieval. The aluminum enclosure and compact iLOG design make the unit suitable for both laboratory and field applications.
Strain Gauge and Bridge Measurement
The iBG supports 6-wire full-bridge configurations and provides:
- 2.5 VDC excitation output
- Excitation-sense input
- Bridge signal input
- Excitation-wire compensation
This makes the iBG suitable for applications using:
- Strain gauges
- Load cells
- Pressure sensors
- Force sensors
- Torque sensors
- Other compatible bridge-type transducers
The excitation-sense channel helps compensate for voltage drop in the excitation wiring, improving measurement accuracy when the sensor is located away from the logger.
High-Resolution Data Logging
The iBG uses a 16-bit analog-to-digital converter for high-resolution bridge measurements.
Sampling intervals are programmable from:
30 milliseconds to 12 hours
This allows the logger to support both relatively fast measurement applications and long-term standalone monitoring.
Standalone Operation and Long-Term Recording
Recorded data is stored in 8 MB of onboard non-volatile flash memory.
The logger supports:
- Stop logging when memory is full
- FIFO logging mode
- Immediate logging
- Delayed start
- Field push-button activation
At a 1-minute sampling interval in standalone mode, the internal lithium battery provides up to 12 years of operation, depending on usage and operating conditions.
USB Communication and SiteView Software
The iBG connects directly to a Windows computer through USB.
SiteView software provides the tools required to:
- Configure logging sessions
- Download recorded data
- View real-time readings
- Display data in graph and table formats
- Configure alarms
- Apply custom calibration
- Apply custom equations
- Convert bridge measurements into engineering units
- Export and analyze recorded data
SiteView is sold separately.
Alarm and Excitation Control
The iBG provides configurable alarm and control functions for applications requiring more than basic data recording.
Each channel supports two programmable alarm thresholds.
The available output terminals can be configured for:
- Alarm output
- Excitation control
The onboard status LED provides visual indication of normal sampling, alarm conditions, and low battery status.
Remote Access and Network Integration
Although the iBG is a USB-based data logger, it can be accessed remotely over an Ethernet network by connecting it to a Microedge Smart-Hub.
Smart-Hub allows the iBG to be accessed through:
- SiteView
- SiteView-Web
- SiteView SDK
- Pluto
Smart-Hub also provides:
- RESTful Web API
- Modbus TCP Gateway
This allows iBG measurements to be integrated with third-party software and industrial monitoring systems.
Rugged Industrial Design
The iBG is housed in a durable aluminum enclosure and is designed for operation from:
−40°C to +70°C (−40°F to +158°F)
with up to:
95% RH, non-condensing.
